FEBRUARY CHRISTMAS TREE
February 01 Wednesday 2006

It’s been a long time in coming, but I’ve finally unpacked the last box, which means I’ve finally settled into my new home. I actually finished decking out my kitchen and washroom months ago, but the “living area” has taken much longer. I find that a little odd, considering it's where I spend the majority of my time when I’m at home.

I’m beginning to think that the delay is due to a sub-conscious reluctance to move on. Moving on means leaving loved one’s behind, if not in presence, in time... at least that's how it feels in my mind. Perhaps that's the reason why I still haven't taken down my Christmas tree and fairy-lights; because I want it to be Christmas everyday... but then on second thoughts, perhaps not.

The real reason why I've left my tree up is so that my Dad can see it. Back in the UK, decorating the Christmas tree was something of a family tradition. My mother and I would dress it together and then we'd enjoy it as a family over the festive season. So seeing as my Dad is visiting this week, I thought I'd leave it up that little bit longer... hence the heading "February Christmas Tree".

I'm really enjoying living in this flat, with or without Christmas decorations. It's big enough not to feel cramped, yet small enough to keep relatively clean - and a darn sight cleaner than when I first moved in, click here to check it out. I will, however, be keeping the fairy lights up around the bed... but that's for an entirely different reason altogether.
