ROCK N' ROLL STAR*
February 25 Saturday 2006

They may not be the most popular musical act in the world anymore, but Oasis remain my favourite band of all time. Almost every major event in my life has been punctuated by one of their albums. Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory got me through my teenage years; Be Here Now took me from GCSE's to A-Levels; Standing on the Shoulder of Giants and The Masterplan got me through university; Heathen Chemistry through my year-out; and Don't Believe The Truth accompanied my move to Hong Kong.

I missed out on seeing Oasis' latest world tour in London last May, because I had a flight to catch. And then last week I had to turn down another opportunity, as the ticket I was being offered was in the context of a “date”, to which I really couldn’t accept without feeling incredibly guilty.

Third time lucky I suppose, or should I say blessed. Whilst I was at The Vine yesterday, Tom and Derek recommended me to Pastor John who had a spare ticket going - how cool is that? So a big thanks goes to John, Sandra, Tom and Derek. You guys rock - I had an awesome time at the gig. Keeping on the rock n' roll theme, congratulations to Kathryn for picking up this years Y-Rock award. And what more befitting for the new Queen of rock n' roll than to be serenaded by the King himself... Hong Kong's very own Elvis Presley. Happy birthday Kathryn.
