A LITTLE BIT OF WAVERJANE
March 16 Thursday 2006

Insomnia: I’ve finally had trouble falling asleep over something worth staying up for. Instead of being kept awake by the usual exam stress, I couldn’t sleep last night because I was so excited about recording two worship songs I’ve been working on for the past couple of months.

Tentatively titled “God is Good” and “King of Glory”, I went over to Dave Prideaux's house this morning to record demo’s for The Vine's upcoming Live Worship Album. We managed to do most of the vocals in one-take, and so it only took us around six hours to get both songs done.

Dave is an awesome musician and despite having not heard the songs before, he was playing electric guitar, bass, piano and singing some really sweet harmonies. I haven’t had much experience recording music or even writing it down, so it was a real honour working with Dave.

Amnesia: Thankfully I’m not suffering from it. “Amnesia” is the name of the last venue I saw Dave’s band perform at. Go visit their website at Waverjane.com. It was a really fun night; a whole bunch of us from One_Eighty were drafted in to provide the “atmosphere” for a music video that will be launched later this year - check out the pictures on the right.

I’m surrounded by so many incredible musicians and song-writers. Friends like Joshua, Ephraim, Ben, Matt, Brett, Nate - the list goes on. God has showered our church with an abundance of musical talent, and an amazing Worship Director in Tom Read. Checkout his website and blog at Thomasread.net. I've learnt and am still learning so much from these guys, not just technically, but also about the heart of worship... they seriously rock.

Indeed, it's been Tom and Derek who have been encouraging me all along to finish writing these songs. I can't put them online just quite yet, but I'll hopefully be able to share them in the near future, so watch this space. God is good...
