PLANETSHAKERS IN HONG KONG The Worship ‘06 Seminar has been great. We've had the likes of Andy Piercy from Holy Trinity Brompton London and The Vine’s very own Tom Read taking us through various aspects of leading worship, and now it's the turn of the Planetshakers team from Australia. What is Planetshakers I hear you ask. Well I quote:
If you'd told me a year ago that Planetshakers would be playing in Hong Kong, I wouldn't have believed you, let alone playing at The Vine Centre. But God is so faithful. I honestly believe that He opened the floodgates when The Vine invited Hillsong United to play in Hong Kong a few months back. It was a real step of faith for our church to put on that event, and now I believe we’re beginning to see some of the fruit of it. How much longer until we see the likes of Matt Redman, Delirious and New Life gracing our city and breaking into China? I could quite happily stop writing there; about how tremendous it is that we’re finally seeing major Christian acts breaking into Asia. And yet, the one thing that’s really stirring my soul these days is not what’s breaking into Hong Kong, but what’s breaking out. You see, as much as I adore the latest Hillsong United album United We Stand, and the song The Heart of Worship by Matt Redman, I appreciate that they will never mean as much to us as they do to the churches they were written for at the time. In that respect, I believe that the upcoming Vine Live Worship Album is the overflow of our worship here in Hong Kong, and at The Vine... now that's exciting! N.B. thanks goes out to Derek for letting me use his photographs from the other night. Check out his blog here. |
