A TASTY CHINESE IN LONDON I got back into London a couple of days ago, after a refreshing few days in West Wales with my parents. The underground was still affected from the weeks earlier Tube strikes, so it took me just over an hour to get from Paddington to my hotel in Tufnell. The room I'm staying in is nice. I have a double-bed all to myself, and my own shower and toilet, as well as a television and kettle, (and boy do I miss good old British television and tea when I'm in Hong Kong). I haven't had much chance to explore the area yet, but I did pass a chinese take-away on the way from the Tube Station. I'm pretty sure that wherever I've gone in the world, I've come across a chinese take-away at some point. I bet if I was to go to Antarctica, I'd find one there too! Anyhow, I was pretty hungry, so I ordered some special fried-rice with sweet corn & crab soup, and had me a real feast. I think it's somewhat ironic that I travel halfway around the globe, only to have chinese... but then again, it's what I like, so I'm happy. I’ll be staying in the hotel until Wednesday, by which time two other interns will have arrived, and then we’ll be moving into a different hotel in Knightsbridge, closer to HTB, and no doubt another chinese take-away! |
