IN THE BLINK OF A LONDON EYE “Two months will be over in the blink of an eye”, I hear people saying. That may be the case, but it feels like I’ve been here for absolutely ages. It’s not a bad thing though, in fact I’ve really enjoyed settling into HTB, exploring the grounds and attending the training sessions with 6 National Alpha Directors who have flown in from all over the globe. It has been long though. The programme is pretty intense and there’s a lot to take in. The teaching is top-notch and I'm learning some amazing principles and concepts. But what I’ve found most valuable is simply being around some of the leaders at HTB and Alpha; people like Nicky Gumbel, Tricia Neill, Tim Hughes and Nicky & Silla Lee. I'm not putting them up on a pedestal; but what I'm saying is that some things can only really be "caught" and not "taught". My own attitudes and thinking are being completely stretched, sometimes blown to pieces, and I'm absorbing so much good stuff by just being with and around these incredible men and women of God. On Tuesday I went down to the London Eye where a group of pastorates were meeting to pray for the city. Pastorates are basically gatherings of between 25-35 people who meet fortnightly. It was a really good experience, and would you believe that I met a girl who was born in my city and whose family live in the same town as my parents. London's great - you have no idea who you're going to run into next! |
