TEA & SURFING IN THE CRYPT
September 26 Wednesday 2007

Having lived in Hong Kong for quite a while, I’ve begun to take things like air-con on public transport and phone reception on the underground for granted. Although I’ve felt their absence since moving to London, they're not something I've really missed. One thing I have missed though, is the lack of decent wireless internet.

Since arriving at HTB, getting online has proven quite a task. I can't plug my powerbook onto the network for security reasons, and wireless hot-spots in the area are erratic at best. It's not that I have an aversion to using the available PC's, it's just that all of my e-mail, FTP details and files are already on my Mac and ready to go. Coupled with that is my tendency to type e-mails up at the hotel, which sit in my outbox until I can get some internet access... "if" I can get some internet access that is.

There is one place, however, that has perfect reception... and that's the church crypt. It may not sound like the most ideal of settings, but I've actually grown quite fond of it. It's cosy, but not claustrophobic and there's plenty of light. It's also situated by the kitchen which is well stocked with tea-bags and milk. So if you happen to see me online in the next couple of months, this is where I'll probably be, complete with a mug of good 'ol english breakfast tea.
