MARRIAGE PREPARATION

One of the perks of being a Global Intern at HTB, is that I get to help out and attend various conferences and courses that are run throughout the year. I’ve enjoyed going along to the Marriage Course to observe how it’s run, but it’s the Marriage Preparation Course that has really perked my interest.

The course is for any engaged couples who want to develop foundations for a healthy marriage that will last a lifetime. I came across a quote by J. John, which pretty much sums it up for me:

“So many couples spend so much time preparing for their wedding ceremony rather than preparing for their marriage…” J. John.

Out of all the events I've been to so far, this is the most impressive and well run. Rather than feeling like a course, it actually feels like, "going on a date". There's nothing like being in a room with 150 couples who are very much in love, and it's all handled with the utmost sensitivity and care.

Even though I'm trying to soak up as much as I can regards how the course is run, I'm a little wary about how much I participate (if only in my head). For one: the course is for engaged couples; and secondly, this is not something I want to go through prematurely, but rather when the time is right and when I'm with the person I'll be spending the rest of my life with.

That said, all this talk of marriage is very exciting, and has got me thinking seriously and praying about the months to come.
